Dear Friends,

We've been out here in the midwest since Sept. 6th playing some shows, doing some recording, and working with Red House Records on the release of our new CD, "Radio Songs." It's a compilation of songs we've performed on A Prairie Home Companion which gives the listener an overview of the work we've done on the show over the years. We've gotten all the releases signed and have put the the finishing touches on the liner notes and are getting excited about its release. It's due out on Nov. 9th (for sure!!). We've been part and parcel of are a couple of special recent happenings. Last weekend we participated in a wonderful tribute concert at The Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul for Bob Feldman who founded and was President of Red House Records until his death in early 2006. It was a three hour, sold out extravaganza during which 15 Red House artists celebrated the life of a true force of nature, Bob Feldman. We were so happy to be a part of it. Proceeds from the concert are going to one of Bobs favorite organizations, Save The Redwoods League. You can find out more about them at www.savetheredwoods.org.

We are also involved with a CD entitled, "Music Of Coal: Mining Songs from the Appalachian Coalfields", produced by The Lonesome Pine Office On Youth in Big Stone Gap, VA. It's a really interesting project that has been two years in the making. It has two CDs and a extraordinary package. The music is totally captivating and we have been listening to it nonstop. There are some historic recordings from the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s as well as some new productions recorded specifically for the project. We recorded Jean Ritchie's incredible song, "Blue Diamond Mines." We will have that song ready for the shows we are doing next week in southwest Virgina.
