2015's 1st Email MessageDear Friends,Happy New Year. As young adults we both read George Orwell's "1984" and, around the same, we went to see "2001: A Space Odyssey." These were dates so far in the future that it wasn't even worth thinking about. And forget about 2015. We could have never imagined life in a time to come that far ahead. But 2015 is upon us and here we are, still living the dream. We've had a big time this Holiday Season. In fact it has been the idyllic stint that the advertisers say we should have and that Christmas cards wish for us all. Providing a great deal of the seasonal enjoyment was our gathering with a talented troupe of musicians for the 18th straight year and playing a couple of Hank Williams Tribute shows. That, along with several get-togethers and parties, both close to home and away, made us realize what a joy it is to have good and firm friends. For us it's been the season to be jolly. But it has been a sad time for several of our friends who have lost close family members. We wish there was some way we could relieve the awful grief they're going through and our thoughts are with them as we write this. Their loss renews our desire to be grateful for what we have and to not take our good fortune for granted. Okay folks, who remembers "The Dukes Of Hazard?" We received an early Christmas present when we found out Tom Wopat and John Schneider recorded a Holiday CD, "Home For Christmas" that included one of our songs, "On A Quiet Christmas Morn." We met Tom Wopat last spring and sent him some of our Christmas songs at his request. We never heard another word from him so it came as a complete surprise to learn our song had been selected to be on the CD. And we just found out that the CD is on Billboard Magazine's Top 10 Jazz Chart. That sounds good to us. For you youngsters who have no idea who "The Dukes Of Hazzard" are, they're the guys in the Auto Trader commercials on TV, the ones driving around in the '69 orange Dodge Charger. We've got some news concerning our musical "Stonewall Country." It has been selected by the Barter Theatre (www.bartertheatre.com) in Abingdon, VA for a three week run in April and May. "Stonewall Country," for those who don't know, was the cornerstone piece for the Lime Kiln Theater in Lexington for more than twenty years and has mostly been performed as an outdoor drama. We've always felt that it would be as good or better in an indoor setting and now we finally get to see if we are right. The good folks at the Barter have invested a lot of time and effort in the project and we are extremely pleased that they have chosen to give "Stonewall Country" new life. We will be in the production and, along with our good buddy Jim Watson, will handle most of the music. It will be quite a challenge for us to have to get back into "acting" and we'll work hard not to embarrass ourselves. Make your plans, come see it and let us know what you think. Bumper Sticker Of The Month: Life begins at 40. Everything before that is research. We've got a few more days at home and then we head out with Jim Watson for a few dates in North Carolina and Virginia. Robin gets to return to one of his hometowns, Wilson, NC, where he spent ten of his growing up years a long time ago. He hasn't been back there since way back in the last century. We hope this finds you healthy and happy and that we get to see you at one of the stops along the way. Come on out and support some live music. Your pals, Robin and Linda
